Dr. Elsey’s Ultra and Clean Tracks are the most relevant choices here for shoppers seeking clumping clay cat litter. Ultra is available in two bag sizes and is described as 99.9% dust-free; Clean Tracks offers low-dust clumping clay in two sizes. The Sustainably Yours option is a non-clay alternative included for shoppers interested in its pH-monitoring feature.

Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Unscented, 40 lb
Best for: Multi-cat households or regular litter-box users who want a larger bag of unscented clumping clay. This formula is made with 100% bentonite clay and medium-grain particles. The listed features emphasize hard clumps that resist breaking during scooping and help keep moisture from reaching the bottom of the tray.
The product description calls the litter 99.9% dust-free and hypoallergenic, making it a relevant option for buyers seeking a low-dust formula. It was selected as a core clay choice because its listed features directly address dust and clump firmness. Limitation: A 40-pound bag may be cumbersome to lift or store.
Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Unscented, 18 lb
Best for: Shoppers who want the Ultra formula in a smaller bag. Its listed features match the 40-pound version: 100% bentonite clay, medium-grain particles, hard clumping, and a 99.9% dust-free and hypoallergenic formulation. Choose this size if carrying or storing a large bag is a concern, or if you want to try the formula before buying more.
Hard clumps are described as easier to scoop because they are less likely to break apart. This product was selected for buyers who prioritize the same Ultra features but prefer a smaller package. Limitation: The smaller format contains less litter, so it may require more frequent repurchasing than the larger bag.
Dr. Elsey’s Clean Tracks, 18 lb
Best for: Buyers who want to try Clean Tracks in a smaller bag. The listed formula uses 100% bentonite clay, medium-grain particles, and hard clumping. The product description highlights low dust and a hypoallergenic formulation, while the firm clumps are intended to make scooping easier.
Choose Clean Tracks if its stated low-dust feature and clumping performance fit your priorities. It was selected as a direct clay-litter option with a convenient smaller bag size. Limitation: The description says “low dust” but does not give the same 99.9% dust-free figure listed for Ultra.
Sustainably Yours Health Monitoring Formula
Best for: Cat owners exploring litter with a pH-monitoring feature rather than conventional clay. The product is described as natural, unscented, silica-free, and made with sunflower and carrot extracts for pH-change detection. Its listed features also include a virtually dust-free formula and fast-drying clumping intended to seal away germs.
This is included as an adjacent alternative, not as a clay recommendation: the product information does not identify it as clay. It may interest buyers who value the stated monitoring feature. Limitation: The pH feature is not a substitute for veterinary evaluation, and this option does not match a strict clay-litter preference.
Dr. Elsey’s Clean Tracks, 40 lb
Best for: Regular Clean Tracks users who prefer a larger bag. The product is made with 100% bentonite clay and medium-grain particles. Its listed features include low dust, hard clumping, and clumps designed to resist breaking and help prevent moisture from reaching the bottom of the litter tray.
Compared with the 18-pound Clean Tracks option, this bag provides more litter in one purchase while retaining the same stated formula features. It was selected for buyers who already know they want this product line and need a larger supply. Limitation: The larger package may be harder to carry and requires more storage space.
Buying Guide: How to Choose Clumping Clay Cat Litter
Should you choose Ultra or Clean Tracks?
Both Dr. Elsey’s options are listed as bentonite clay litters with medium-grain particles and hard clumping. The clearest stated difference is dust wording: Ultra is described as 99.9% dust-free, while Clean Tracks is described as low dust. Compare the product details and choose based on the specific features you prioritize.
What bag size makes sense?
An 18-pound bag is the more manageable option for shoppers who want to test a formula, have limited storage, or find large bags difficult to lift. A 40-pound bag suits buyers who prefer to keep a larger supply on hand. Consider carrying and storage needs as well as how often you want to restock.
Why do clumping and particle size matter?
Hard clumps can make daily scooping more straightforward when they hold together instead of breaking apart. The listed Dr. Elsey’s formulas use medium-grain particles and describe clumps that help prevent moisture from reaching the bottom of the tray. These are product claims, not a guarantee that every cat or litter box will perform identically.
Is unscented or low-dust litter a priority?
Ultra is explicitly labeled unscented and lists a 99.9% dust-free formulation. Clean Tracks is described as low dust. If minimizing fragrance or dust is important, compare the exact product description and observe how your cat responds when changing litter.
